How it works
A first look, not a full reading
Day pillar
Uses the standard Julian Day Number formula, which is exact for Gregorian dates. If you were born after 23:00, the next day’s pillar is used, as in tradition.
Year & month pillars
Uses approximate solar-term dates (Li Chun on February 4, and fixed monthly nodes). Professional schools may refine these to the minute.
Elements
Counts the element of each visible stem and branch (hidden stems are not included in this simplified view).
